A few thoughts about Hackers

Now don't be scared :)

but I don't blame you, this word has many meanings, even you if you go to Wikipedia page you get different results.

I would like to talk about Hacker as a person who like to solve different computer problems in an elegant way. This is my definition, but there is a better one defined by Eric Steven Raymond

Let's take a look at his article.

Now I don't consider myself a hacker (maybe partially, because I share some passion towards computer, research and solving some problems), but I don't think I can wear such a title without some sort of established amount of work.

I been programming for many years (more than 10 years now), and always been excited by the way how you can make computer work. Playing with QBasic and Pascal on my old 486 DX was really cool thing at that time.

This is actually what Eric is writing about in his article. He explain who the hacker is and how you can become one. I guess being a hacker right now is "cool", it is, but only if you are doing something valuable with your skills.

Eric also explains what exactly you need to know and learn if you want to become a hacker: attitude, skills, experience and respect.

I suggest you check his article for more details: here
